Cohle KAL.

Cohle KAL.

Whoa. There’s some serious dust on my blog… A few quick words before I launch into the KAL details.

One of these days, I will pick up where I left off on the “build a house” conversation. Let’s just say it’s been quite a process which is STILL on-going. (I may need therapy.)

For now, I’m happy to report that I’m finding new energy and time to focus on my work. A couple main things contributing that that are:

1) I have an amazing studio space in my house now.
2) I’ve passed on the BT pattern layout torch.
3) It’s the beginning of a new year and I’m feeling optimistic.

So… Look out, I’m hoping many of the things I put on the back burner are now going to catch on fire!

Alright. So, Let’s talk KAL.

Cohle is one of the designs I published in 2014 when I became obsessed with Shibui Pebble. (I’m still obsessed, by the way.) My sample ended up in the “Friends of Shibui” trunk show circuit and even though I had planned to knit another sample immediately, it didn’t happen.

I’m about to launch into some serious pleasure knitting and I’m hoping some of you will join along with me!

There will be no pressure with this. I’ve never “hosted” a KAL like this before, but I think it will be fun. A few people have already expressed interest, and I’m hoping a lot more will either join in or cheer us on. The pattern, materials list, etc. is available here.

Just one rule:

Post your process/progress on Instagram (@jgourmet to follow me) with the hashtag #CohleKAL. That’s it.

Leave a comment here or on my Instagram post and let me know if you’re joining in.

I will be paying attention!!

Dafne in linen.

There’s a small part of me that refuses to admit that summer is over.
(The remainder of me is ALWAYS more than happy to welcome Autumn.)

Before we wave goodbye to summer, I wanted to share a little project I worked on a few months ago, in a new yarn released by Jones & Vandermeer — Lustrous Linen.

As the name suggests, it’s a wonderful 100% linen chained yarn in a fingering weight; and when held double it’s perfect for Dafne. The resulting fabric has an amazing sheen and luxurious drape, slightly more open stitch but not at all too sheer to be worn alone. I LOVE it.

Hope you all had a wonderful summer! x

Collection just for Kids.

Several times throughout the year, I get to wake up
with the anticipation of a new Brooklyn Tweed collection launch.

After the buildup and teasers from the previous week,
it’s always so fun (and a bit nerve wracking) to get online and see the reactions.

She has a pulse.

I’m so hopelessly bad at maintaining this blog.

Has everyone given up on me? I don’t blame you.

Clearly, I’m not driven by blogging regularly, but I do like to share what I’m up to from time to time, in a way that is deeper than Instagram/Twitter/Facebook – which I’m much better at doing spontaneously. So believe it or not, after over 4 months of NOTHING, I’m posting this today!

Color options for Kimmswick

Color options for Kimmswick

I’ve been wanting to do this since Madrona (earlier in February!), when Churchmouse Yarns hinted to me that I might create a blue and green specific color combination for their shop sample. So yea, I’ve finally gotten down to it.

BT Mens 2013

BT Mens 2013

Hooray for the first full-blown Mens Collection from Brooklyn Tweed!

Yes, we love our men.
I, for one, could design for men every day.
It’s no secret that my own personal style is heavily influenced by menswear.

The stack shown above is just a little peek of three of my designs.
(Top two are different versions of the same scarf.)
